Humanizing × Mappedin: When the Indoor Map Can Answer
The partnership between Humanizing Technologies and Mappedin combines two layers into one interactive wayfinding system: Mappedin provides the digital indoor map, and Humanizing puts a conversational AI avatar in front of it. Visitors simply ask for their destination and receive a friendly spoken answer — together with a clear visual route on the map.
Humanizing Technologies builds AI avatar assistants for digital self-service. Based on the Plural.io platform, our stylized 3D avatars welcome, inform and guide visitors at kiosks, terminals and on the web — via voice or touch, in over 100 languages, GDPR-compliant and accessible. As a solution provider, Humanizing handles the integration end to end, including the on-site hardware.

Hardware — optional
The hardware is optional: run the Avatar Wayfinder on your existing infrastructure — or we take care of kiosk steles, terminals and displays end to end. What fits your site is something we clarify together in a first call.

The Avatar Wayfinder combines Mappedin's indoor maps with a conversational avatar. Instead of searching a map themselves, visitors simply ask in natural language — “Where is room 1.204?” — and receive a spoken answer along with a Mappedin route drawn to the destination.
Two layers work together here. Mappedin provides the digital indoor map with route calculation; Humanizing adds the conversation and experience layer on top: an on-brand 3D avatar that understands questions, reasons, and guides visitors to the right room, department or counter. The map remains Mappedin's strength; the conversation and the intelligence come from Humanizing.
How do Humanizing and Mappedin complement each other?
Mappedin provides the globally proven mapping foundation — in use at major airports, hospitals and shopping centers. Humanizing is the solution provider that turns it into a finished wayfinding system and handles the integration end to end: from the conversational avatar and the knowledge base to the on-site hardware.
Out of two specialized layers comes a solution that operators can roll out without their own project team. Together we bring indoor navigation and conversational AI into one experience — a partnership model that scales with every new site. And a static map, at first a cost for the operator, becomes a visibly helpful digital concierge.
What are the benefits of the interactive wayfinding system?
For operators and visitors alike, the combination creates concrete benefits — from app-free operation to a seamless visitor journey:
- Ask, don't search: Visitors simply ask “Where is room 1.204?” and receive a friendly spoken answer plus a clear Mappedin route — no map-reading and no app download required.
- Inclusive by design: Voice and touch operation in 100+ languages, high-contrast visuals and audio support — orientation that works for everyone, including visitors with disabilities (EAA-ready).
- 24/7 staff relief: The avatar answers orientation questions at entrances and info points around the clock, relieving reception teams so they can focus on individual service.
- One seamless visitor journey: Wayfinding can be combined with digital reception, check-in or safety instructions on the same platform — visitors are greeted, checked in and guided to their destination, while maps stay up to date via the Mappedin dashboard.
How does the integration work — step by step?
The path to your own Avatar Wayfinder is straightforward. In six steps, a Mappedin map becomes a talking wayfinding system:
- Get in touch: Book a demo or contact the Humanizing team and describe your building and use case (entrance, info point, clinic ward, retail floor, etc.).
- Connect your Mappedin venue: We link your existing Mappedin indoor map to the Plural.io platform. Don't have a map yet? We coordinate the setup together with Mappedin.
- Choose and customize your avatar: Select a standard avatar or personalize one with the Avatar Builder (appearance, clothing, branding) and define the languages your visitors need.
- Configure destinations and knowledge: Rooms, departments, POIs and frequently asked questions are added to the avatar's knowledge base, so it can both answer and navigate.
- Deploy on your hardware: Roll out on kiosks, terminals or large-format screens — operated via touch, voice or both.
- Go live and stay up to date: Map changes such as new routes, room changes or temporary closures are maintained via the Mappedin web interface and reflected in the Wayfinder automatically.
Which buildings is the solution suited for?
The Avatar Wayfinder fits anywhere people arrive and need to orient themselves in large or complex buildings. The combination is especially valuable where many visitors meet and where brand and experience matter.
Typical settings include hospitals and healthcare, shopping malls and retail, airports, campus and corporate sites, public institutions, and leisure venues such as theme parks and stadiums. Wherever several screens are deployed per site, an on-brand avatar plays to its strengths.
